For wine people in the know, Argentina represents one of the most amazing places for wine quality and value today. The country is also one of the ‘kindest’ climates (dry, sunny) for growing quality grapes with very few disease issues and growing problems. The fact that many vineyards are found at elevations above 4,000 feet is quite remarkable. Malbec is the king here – with very fine Cabernet as well. Renaissance is pleased to bring you the fruits of a very successful partnership between the Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) family from France and the Catena family in Argentina. As Baron Eric de Rothschild commented it was ‘An association between two cultures, two families and two grapes’. The idea was to produce a single wine that would combine the best of French and Argentine cultures and the two signature grapes of each producer, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. Both partners brought much to the party.
