Italy

Italian wines are as diverse as the French – plentiful reds and delicious un-oaked whites. Italy is home to an exceptional wine culture and their product remains refreshingly affordable. The Italian wine market is crowded, fragmented and crazy and we see no change in the years ahead. If you require further supplier or product information, please contact your local RWM office.

Cantine Due Palme
Verona

Cantine Due Palme is an agricultural co-operative established in 1989 by 400 member growers in the Puglia region of southern Italy. The main local grape varieties include Negroamaro, Malvasia Nero and Primitivo. Some other varieties cultivated include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Montepulciano, Sangiovese and Chardonnay. The winery is state of the art – unusual for the region. The President and enologist Angelo Maci fashions richly fruity wines with great colour and concentration. The character of each wine is quite typical of the region – they all are extremely good value and tasters often mention “new world” when sampled blind. Recent research even demonstrates Puglian wines to contain very high levels of Resveratrol (due mainly to the Negoramara grape), which is a well-known anti-oxidant and has shown to have therapeutic effects in case of cardio-vascular diseases.
