New Zealand

The last ten years or so have firmly established New Zealand as one of the very top and consistently excellent producers of dry Sauvignon Blanc. They also have almost single handedly and uniformly spearheaded the move to the “stelvin” or screwcap closure. The marketplace place for New Zealand is hot, hot, hot and the country is no longer just about Sauvignon. There is also very fine Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling. However, if you ask most New Zealanders, it is Pinot Noir that holds the most promise.
