Chile
The quick surge of popularity in the early 1980’s for the wines of Chile were mainly for the entry level varietal range which we still refer to as ‘cheap and cheerful’. Of course Chile still makes wines in this range (they are very good at it) but they also are starting to export some of their better Estate wines, many of which are made from older vines. It is in this middle to high price range where there is new value from Chile. If you require further supplier or product information, please contact your local RWM office.
The Silva family has been growing grapes in Chile for a long, long time. Their various Estate vineyards were planted throughout the last 100 years or so with some of the oldest vines still producing! When we first tasted these wines we were amazed at the depth of colour and intensity of flavour. Truly, there are few wines in this world that combine the power, elegance and refined traditions as these South American beauties.
