The Port wine business has really changed too since the early 1980s - more styles today, better quality in the low price ranges and a whole new category called “vintage character,” which is excellent. The fact that Grahams was initially started because the Grahams family (in the 1820s) agreed to take on, as a bad debt, a number of barrels of Port, belies the true planning and hard work that has gone on since then by the Symington family (the current owners). Today the Grahams name is amongst the top two or three on any Port lovers list; big rich powerful wines that age gracefully.
